On the issue of products that cannot be stockpiled, Professor Hervey outlined two options, namely, that we either reduce our reliance on the UK in respect of products coming from there, or being authorised or travelling through there, or ensure supply through a more legally robust framework or system. Is reducing reliance, first and foremost, the optimal step to take, with the second option the alternative, failing that? Given that it would be impossible to eliminate reliance, a legal framework could be applied to protect supply.
