I know some of the officials from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform will be very anxious to be assured that this renewable resource will be auctioned off to benefit the Exchequer and not simply handed over. This is not just about renewable energy to meet our domestic needs in the short term. In the long term, there will probably be an interconnector bypassing the island of Ireland and going straight to the Continent.
