Gas Networks Ireland's Vision 2050: Discussion

Mr. Brendan Murphy:

We are looking at carbon capture and storage in two ways. One is the Kinsale field and the other is the export model. I said that we could wait. We decided that we do not need to keep the platforms and only want to keep the pipeline. We can wait for up to five years before we make a decision. That does not mean that we could not make it much earlier. We could decide on it next year if we were ready. In the Kinsale model, we will be ready for 2025 or 2026. The alternative model is an export model which would probably be faster, so one would not have to worry about the field at all.

One would basically need to have the CO2 liquefied at the port in order for the ship to take it to Norway.
