I thank the Commissioner for his responses. I understand his logic in terms of the districts and the changes that are being made. Sometimes, though, a one-size-fits-all policy does not work. If a county is very large geographically and is both urban and rural, for example, Waterford, perhaps what might work for Limerick or Dublin city might not work for it. I have a concern about there being just two district superintendents for three counties when Waterford currently has three geographically based district superintendents. That concern is shared by individual senior gardaí in Waterford. I do not believe that they are making these arguments for their own positions, given that those positions are safe. Rather, their concerns seem genuine and I hope that they are taken on board. When we see the final outcome, I hope that we will not be as nervous as we are now.
