In the delegates' recommendations on the make-up of the new governance boards they draw attention to the gender imbalance in the FAI, but it would not be the only sinner in the country in that regard. One looks back and asks whether it is any wonder that the women's team received the treatment they did, not least in light of the Women's World Cup, which engaged people's attention, enjoyed a high viewership and included some very good football.
