To an extent, this is about information. It is about how it exists and who has access to that information on spent convictions, albeit there are wider implications. The witnesses might have reflections on other regimes as well as ours. While access to the information is restricted, is it deleted entirely or simply held in a secure manner by An Garda Síochána? How does that work regarding the information that exists or once existed on a spent conviction? Is it entirely deleted or held securely?
