It seems unlikely that an amendment such as my amendment No. 9 would not benefit the national lottery, given the sums involved in betting on its numbers, primarily through online operations. A significant number of companies are making big money out of betting on the Irish and various other lotteries. My understanding is that most European jurisdictions have legislation to protect their lottery. Is that the case? If it is, how is it done?
