Our first item of business is to consider a Government motion to opt in pursuant to Protocol (No. 21) to Regulation (EU) 2018/1727 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 14 November 2018, on the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation, Eurojust, and replacing and repealing the Council Decision 2002/187/JHA.

I welcome the Minister for Justice and Equality, Deputy Charles Flanagan, and his officials from the Department. Before we begin I remind members to be aware that under the salient rulings of the Chair, they should not comment on, criticise or make charges against a person outside the House or an official, either by name or in such a way as to make him or her identifiable.

I invite the Minister to make his opening statement.
