I will leave that topic in a moment but GSOC knew about this case for six years and did not find out about this information. The family, without any training, legal background or anything like that, were able to find this out. The document was obviously relevant. The Garda made an assertion that was accepted by GSOC, whereas the family were able to demonstrate that was not the case. That is disappointing.

There was a disturbing report in TheIrish Timeslast July about a member of GSOC who was under investigation for allegedly coaching the solicitor of a garda who was due to be interviewed as part of an inquiry. GSOC brought in an external investigator to carry out the inquiry. The allegations reported in the newspaper are very serious. It is also alleged that there was a failure to properly supervise an investigation into the alleged Garda mishandling of a complaint of sexual assault made by a woman. These are very serious matters. Has this malpractice investigation been completed and, if not, when will it be completed?
