Best practice around the world cites the need for a specialist transitional unit in the community to facilitate early hospital discharge and free up beds at an acute level. When people with ARBI receive specialist rehabilitation treatment, their long-term prognosis and outcomes are far better than if they receive rehabilitation treatment in a more generalist setting.
