It is the performance management and development system which virtually every large organisation in the country, and indeed the world, have in some form or other. At the beginning of the year, a person sets out what is referred to as their role profile. It identifies broadly and not in perfect detail what they will do and what they are expected to deliver during the year. It also contains an indication of what their development needs are, in terms of additional training and that kind of thing. That is usually agreed between the person and their supervisor and, if necessary because there are difficulties in agreeing that, it goes to the person senior to that again.
