Absolutely. My final point is about data subject access rights and the gardaí. Does the commission have any role in respect of data held by gardaí? There have been a number of cases where people have sought information about themselves from gardaí but did not get the full facts, supposedly for security reasons. Is there anything people can do or anything the commission can do to help people in these circumstances? I am aware of people who did not get a job as a result of a Garda vetting operation and, while they got some information back from gardaí, other information was denied to them on security grounds. They believe this to be erroneous and if they knew what the information was they would be able to challenge it. They are pretty sure they never did anything to warrant being blocked. There must be some way around this.
