Joint Standing Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands

Seirbhísí trí Ghaeilge (Atógáil): An Roinn Talmhaíochta, Bia agus Mara

Ms Eilís O'Connell:

With regard to formal requests for inspections to be conducted through Irish, there was one such request in 2017. There was also an official request for an oral hearing at an agriculture appeals office review to be conducted in Irish in 2017. Those are the only formal requests we have on record. The number is relatively small. Clearly a farmer could request an inspection to be conducted through Irish and we would facilitate that request if we could by sending one of the inspectors in the designated posts.
