As this may be my final appearance before the committee, I wish to express my appreciation for the work it does. Globally, central banks do a lot of work and have a significant impact on many people, so accountability is very important. This committee is the primary way in which the Central Bank of Ireland is held accountable. I appreciate the care and attention the committee has put into these hearings. Although we in the Central Bank must work hard to ensure we are ready for the meetings, we recognise that they are essential and we appreciate the work done by the committee.
