That is fine. I wanted to know because I have a follow on question. To remind ourselves, the first line of that code reads "A loan secured by [a] mortgage [on] residential property may not be transferred without the written consent of the borrower". To my knowledge, the Central Bank has never asked the banks to apply the code. I have taken that voluntary code, which no bank has ever applied, and put it on a statutory basis. The majority of elected Deputies, thankfully, have supported that legislation. Professor Lane is now painting a picture of the Central Bank's own code creating a nightmare scenario for banks, consumers and the wider economy.
