Joint Standing Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands

Seirbhísí trí Ghaeilge (Atógáil): Feidhmeannacht na Seirbhíse Sláinte

Mr. Stephen McGrath:

To clarify, when we did the survey we did ask people what were the most important services to provide through Irish. GPs were the most important at 87%. Home helps were third at 35%, after public health nurses at 41%. There was a recognition among those who responded to the survey, who were all Irish language speakers, that home help was a very important service to them and that they would like it to be provided through Irish. We have taken cognisance of that.
