This meeting has been convened to consider Committee Stage of the Criminal Law (Extraterritorial Jurisdiction) Bill 2018. Before we begin, members are reminded of the long-standing parliamentary practice to the effect that they should not comment on, criticise or make charges against either a person outside the Houses or an official either by name or in such a way as to make him or her identifiable. I also remind people to please switch off their mobile phones as they interfere with the sound recording equipment.

We are joined by the Minister for Justice and Equality, Deputy Flanagan, and his officials. They are all very welcome. They are no proposed amendments to the Bill. Before proceeding to deal with each of the sections and progressing through Committee Stage, I invite the Minister to make his opening remarks.
