The Infectious Diseases Society of Ireland submission is clear. The society understands that there are patients with a range of symptoms, some of which are not readily explained by the medical community. That has always been the case. Since the start of medical practice, there have been conditions in respect of which we have not had answers. That is still the case and, despite best scientific advances, it will remain the case. This does not mean that we are not doing our best to progress scientific and medical practice. It was in that spirit that I tried to ensure we had an accurate and good representation of people to meet the committee.
