I thank everyone for attending this morning. The purpose of our second session is to resume our discussion on the topic of Lyme disease with officials from the Department of Health. On behalf of the committee I welcome Dr. Ronan Glynn, deputy chief medical officer, who is accompanied by Dr. Paul McKeown, specialist in public health medicine in the Health Protection Surveillance Centre; Dr. Cillian de Gascun, consultant medical virologist and director of the National Virus Reference Laboratory; Professor Karina Butler, president of the Infectious Diseases Society of Ireland and consultant in infectious diseases in Crumlin and Temple Street children’s hospitals; and Dr. Gerard Sheehan. I am not sure of Dr. Sheehan's title.
