Lyme Disease: Discussion

9:00 am

Ms Kerry Lawless:

Often, if people come to Tick Talk Ireland and have not got the treatment they require from their GP and are being told the two-tier testing indicates they do not have Lyme disease, we suggest to them there are other tests that people can do abroad. We are quite careful with people. We say that these tests may not, and most likely will not, be accepted in Ireland and even though one can get confirmation of a diagnosis, which is quite satisfying because one finally has answers to why one is ill, it may not help progress the person in terms of accessing treatment.
