It is not that we do not have innovation and innovative thinking in rural areas but opportunities are lost. When the people with the shiny shoes arrive, we are ever-embracing but when indigenous people come forward with innovative ideas, they come across barrier after barrier. It is our collective responsibility to understand and address the barriers, and it is crucial that we do so.
