There are two things. The ongoing quality assurance would look at slides, as they are processed, which is one part of the process. In terms of the audit itself, from when it was initiated until it ceased, it would have included slides for people who, effectively, had interval cancer. If someone had a normal slide, as the Deputy describes, and was subsequently diagnosed with cervical cancer, she was included in the wider scope of the audit.
