European Monetary Policy: Exchange of Views with Mr. Mario Draghi

Sometimes the next crisis arises from the failure to deal with the current crisis which may not be as big as 2008. Housing and the affordability of a place to live is a factor in many European cities. As Mr. Draghi knows, next Sunday is the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One and I mention the failure to allow people to have dividends in their ordinary lives in the aftermath of that. Mr. Draghi said that nobody should be left behind and I agree with him.
I ask him how, as an economist and as the head of the European Central Bank, notwithstanding monetarism, he gives effect to those dividends for the young people who do not have jobs and are not included in the employment statistics and the young people and families who cannot afford to either rent or buy a house, particularly in Ireland but also in many other European countries.
