Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action

Third Report of the Citizens' Assembly: Discussion (Resumed)

1:30 pm

Dr. Orlaigh Quinn:

I will respond to some of the questions and then Professor Ferguson will comment. On the Department's response to the Citizens' Assembly, the assembly is hugely important but I think its work in this area was more focused on the private individual than on enterprise. The Department has to address climate change in the context of enterprise across Ireland. There is no doubt that there are conflicting objectives here. For enterprises to be able to plan and change takes time, support and assistance. In regard to micro-generation, to be helpful I will send the committee details on the regional action plans and the dedicated work that is ongoing in this area.
