Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System: Discussion
10:00 am
Mr. Robert Nicholson:
We have said that an individual can decide to put in what he or she wants. The State's matching contribution would end when one hits that €75,000, as will the employer's. In the short term, individuals can make more of a contribution than they are legally required to under the conditions of the system. Employers will only be required, during the first six years, to match up to that 1%, 2%, 3% or 4% and that is a managed cost. Individuals can make what decisions they like.
