We are naturally bound to think of the impact on ourselves and on the hard infrastructure to mitigate against flooding and so on, but what about the impact on plants and animals on the planet? There must be an impact on the ecology. If the water temperatures are increasing, there will be all sorts of impacts. How will fish survive, for example, or what kind of microbial activity will follow and what impact will that have on us? It is Armageddon stuff we are talking about. If the pollinators are impacted, there will be no one to pollinate our plants. I do not think that we have thought through the seriousness of this at all.
