Public Accounts Committee

National Asset Management Agency: Financial Statements 2016 and 2017
Comptroller and Auditor General Special Report No. 102: National Asset Management Agency Second Progress Report

9:00 am

Mr. Frank Daly:

As to whether I have read the report, certainly, of course. Very definitely. I suppose so much of the answer to what the Deputy is asking is tied up with the commission of investigation that I am sort of reluctant to go there but I absolutely agree with him that process is important. We are an agency that has been in existence for nine years and I believe that all along the way we have learned, as any agency would. In this committee, when we were in here regarding Project Eagle, we acknowledged that there were areas where our documentation in particular could have been improved, and certainly that has been.

I am confident in relation to the processes we have in place. If there is anything to be learned from any transaction, project or action by NAMA over the years, we are always open to that learning and we always implement it. I am very confident of the robustness of our processes now. We had several discussions around Project Eagle. I am not saying we agreed with every conclusion in the committee's report but that is something to be discussed within the Cooke commission. I am very reluctant to go there.
