That is a fair criticism. It is a fair view, in this instance. That is exactly why the policy is under review, to see if that is the change that we should make. Is it that we should have time limits on it or is it that we should not allow this in any circumstance? By way of explanation and to give the committee some of the thinking behind it, what we read in local Malaysian media reports is that this child was identified to law enforcement when the neighbour of that stepfather who was involved viewed the content on Facebook and contacted local law enforcement.
That is the reason for the policy. In the narrow set of circumstances where a child is still at risk, is there a way somebody could help to bring that child to safety? It is difficult because there are so many interests at play. In this circumstance the welfare of the child is our top priority. One is balancing the interest of the child to be brought to safety against the interest of the child to have privacy in the matter. At the same time people are viewing the content.
