Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach

Banking Sector in Ireland (Resumed): Bank of Ireland

9:30 am

Ms Francesca McDonagh:

Bank of Ireland already pays and will continue to pay tax to the State. In the financial year of 2017, across all tax headings, including bank levies, the bank paid €259 million to the State and collected further taxes of €812 million on behalf of the State. That includes Irish corporation tax of €31 million in 2017 in companies that were never at a tax loss or where no tax loss allowance had been utilised. We do pay tax, including corporation tax, to the Irish State.
