The problem is that again, the Minister said that he does not want GSOC to be in a position where it does not have the resources to do its work. However, it does not have those resources. On 8 June 2017, GSOC was given a commitment that it would be given the resources by the Minister. We are in June discussing the annual budget. More than half of the year has gone, and the commission has not been given the resources. It is a simple fact that it is not able to do its job. The Minister says he regrets or does not like to hear public commentary saying that it might not have the resources to do its job. It is not just us saying that. Ms Justice Mary Ellen Ring has been clear on the resources that GSOC needs. This problem is the same as with legislation. The Minister is working on it, but the year will be over before anything happens.
