Depending on how it is calculated, we estimate the UK contribution is in the region of €10 billion to €12 billion per annum, which is 7% to 8% of the total EU budget. There are only three ways in which that shortfall could be dealt with. Either the level of expenditure goes down, the level contribution goes up, or there is a mixture of the two. How the Brexit shortfall will be dealt with is a big area of the early phase of negotiations that have now begun.
