For me, that is dysfunctional. I asked if the HSE directorate was made aware of these matters. The response I got was that it was not the purpose of the director to manage operational issues. In the context, it would not have expected to have been made aware of the issues regarding the CervicalCheck audit. We know that many members of the directorate were aware of it but it was not discussed at directorate meetings. The directorate is the senior management, effectively. Many of the people who are here today and others who are out of the country at present were aware of this issue but it was never discussed at directorate meetings.
