I thank the witness for her presentation. It was said that while the directive gives member states the power to set the conditions for access to the labour market, including the requirement to give priority to EU and EEA citizens, they must do so in a way that ensures that asylum seekers have effective access to the labour market. We had a fairly robust debate with the Minister; perhaps the witness saw it. Does the witness believe the current arrangement ensures that asylum seekers have effective access to the labour market? Does she think the Minister is within his rights to have made things so difficult, considering the current, temporary arrangement?
