Overview of Operations of the National Lottery: Discussion

1:30 pm

Ms Carol Boate:

There are several controls in place and required under the licence to ensure that those under 18 do not play national lottery games, including a confirmation of the player's age at the start of the game. There are also triggers involving specific identification checks. If one wins a prize of €500 or more or withdraws €200 or more, one must provide identification to receive the money. Spot checks are performed every month on a random selection of online players to ask for identification and ensure they are of age.
