A victims group recently made the point to us about the difficulty it has in relation to some of its members who are in a bad way physically and mentally. They worry about welfare changes that might be coming in the future and that there is no definition of who is a victim. The witnesses were speaking earlier about who decides what is important. I would like to think collectively as a society; surely victims should be at the top of the list of priorities but they have been left behind in a row over a handful of people who may get some sort of pension. These are big issues. I would encourage the witnesses to feed in another submission. The witnesses spoke about the prisoners. We are not finished on this issue. It is something that we are trying to get through and we will produce an interim report. We do not think that it will be a solution but we are seeking recommendations and would be interested in what the witnesses think will work, and what might narrow the big gaps that exist on these issues.
