The Minister should not keep talking about the quality of the amendments. He is being pedantic. He has chosen to focus on one element of a report on the period between 2008 and 2012 and ignored what contributed to the vast majority of fatalities, instead bringing in an amendment to disqualify people with between 50 mg and 80 mg of alcohol in their system. He is saying he does not want to work with Opposition Members to bring about stiffer penalties for repeat offenders. If he was serious about reducing deaths on our roads he would start with the area that contributed to the most fatalities, not the one that contributed to the least number.
