Comptroller and Auditor General 2016 Report
Chapter 20: Corporation Tax Receipts (Resumed)

9:00 am

Mr. Niall Cody:

Some of our discussion on research and development, the concentration of corporation tax receipts and the fact that the top ten paid 37%of the total indicates that corporation tax is heavily concentrated on a relatively small number of companies. A key finding of the Coffey report is that corporation tax is heavily concentrated on a small number of companies. Dr. Keith Walsh and his team were looking at increasing the amount of information on losses, which is a big part of the process. In our April 2018 report we will try to give as much detail as we can while protecting confidentiality in terms of individual companies and our approach.
