Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach
Tracker Mortgages: Central Bank of Ireland
9:30 am
Michael McGrath (Cork South Central, Fianna Fail) | Oireachtas source
The language the Governor has used today is quite strong. He spoke about the lenders being "forced" to pay out €316 million, money which belongs to the borrowers. He spoke about the senior management of lenders being "hauled in". That is not language we normally hear from the Central Bank. He spoke about the material deficiencies in certain lenders' responses. As of today, is the Governor satisfied with the level of co-operation and the work being done by all of the lenders in this examination?
