Coillte's Annual Report for 2016 and Climate Change: Discussion

4:00 pm

Mr. Fergal Leamy:

Over the last number of years, we have been supplying Bord na Móna with approximately 50,000 cu. m per year, which is up from approximately zero three or four years ago. In terms of its ambitions, it will require significantly more pulp than is available on a longer-term basis. We would be of the view that we need to focus on mobilising private supply because there is a lot of fibre out there. The key issue will be how to get it from the forests to the market. A lot of effort will be required to remove the barriers to enable that pulp material and fibre to come to market.
