Coillte's Annual Report for 2016 and Climate Change: Discussion

4:00 pm

Mr. Gerard Murphy:

It comes back to communication. In a good partnership there is a free exchange of information on what needs to be done. In a thinning situation, for example, there are a limited number of years in which to thin. If it is not done within a three-year window, there is an increased risk of windthrow. There are certain constraints and thinning has to be done at certain stages. We are always looking for the best price at a particular moment in time while also taking into account the other elements of the silvicultural regime.
