In general, I am all for this. The onus falls on the medical practitioner to make the declaration with regard to the subsidy for, as Senator Burke brought up, foreign travel. Would that not lead to a little bit of inconsistency in self-declaration? Should the onus not fall on the pharmaceutical company? If it is dealing with 100 doctors that it is bringing to the UK for a conference, would it not be handier if the pharmaceutical company was responsible for netting down the actual donation amount as opposed to the practitioner doing the sums? There would be 100 different sums done on the side of the practitioners. I am just trying to tease out things that might emerge through this.
