There would not necessarily be a distortion on taxation but there would be an impact because people employed to build public housing would pay income tax and other revenue sources would benefit. It is not necessarily just the direct or indirect taxes one might collect from the house itself, one would have the taxes on the labour element involved so there is a potential impact on the revenue base but I admit it would not be as large.
