Committee on Budgetary Oversight

Fiscal Assessment Report: Irish Fiscal Advisory Council

2:00 pm

Mr. Seamus Coffey:

If the UK economy was to crash, the impact would be more negative than is currently built into the forecasts. The current forecasts are based largely on what was produced in the UK. We looked at the impact on the UK economy and adopted that across Ireland. If UK growth, employment and consumption were to be lower, we asked what impact this would have on Ireland. If the impact on the UK was to be greater, by consequence the impact on Ireland would be greater.
