Status, Treatment and Use of the National Anthem

10:00 am

Mr. Tony Fitzgerald:

I have visited both primary and secondary schools and it has been sung in every school. I am always conscious that school principals have many people calling to the school, including community gardaí and health workers. It is important to ensure the national anthem is part of the curriculum. To be fair, every school at primary and secondary levels embraced it warmly. I appreciate that at different levels, one will get different engagements and degrees of knowledge. The best way to go from now on is probably to start with the primary schools.
