It may be apparent but I want to get absolute clarity on the issue of the overtime. It may be an operational matter for the gardaí but on the basis of what has been provided here, can it be said that the announced ban on overtime, apart from specific operations, in the Dublin metropolitan region will continue between now and the end of the year or will it be rectified and overtime be available to members of An Garda Síochána? I take the opportunity to commend the gardaí on their considerable successes in recent months in tackling organised crime.
Regarding Deputy Daly's points, it is a surprise to me that there is an underspend in the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service, INIS. Two years after the enactment of the International Protection Act and at a time of a refugee crisis one would imagine that there should be considerable pressure on the INIS budget. It is a surprise to me and a source of concern, but I hope that will be rectified next year.
