I have spoken here of the need for us to examine positive alternatives to abortion such as providing better support to families and the need to improve the adoption process. I am disappointed that we do not seem to be interested in ways to save babies' lives while at the same time providing better supports to women. Professor Pajkrt's paper referred to how women seeking abortions should be asked if they are aware of other options and have considered them. She has spoken here of how abortion law has developed in the Netherlands since it was first introduced. Will she now balance her contribution by explaining how the law has developed to provide and improve on alternatives to abortion such as adoption?
