Engagement with the Central Bank of Ireland

Professor Philip Lane:
Given the small number of banks involved in the UK, I do not think it would be wise to focus in on loan default rates. The basic message and the overall judgment here is that these banks have enough capital to withstand the kind of stresses we see in these scenarios. If we give out the individual numbers, it could be easily inferred that they were bank-specific and we cannot do that given the small population of banks involved in the UK.
