The witness gives the impression of the dispute with the two lenders and what happens if there is a satisfactory outcome. I ask her to name the two lenders - I do not know if there is any reason they are not being named at this point. Has the Central Bank not indicated to the lenders that it has power under the 2013 Act, given that the overcharging is happening now, as the banks are taking excess money from the customers in 2017? Has the Central Bank not examined the powers it has under legislation and indicated that it has and will use those powers? The witnesses give the impression today that the Central Bank will look for names and tell them to go to the Financial Services Ombudsman or the courts. The Central Bank was given power in 2013, where a bank is overcharging customers, to ensure money can be recompensed to the individual and adequate compensation given.
