Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach

Banking Sector in Ireland (Resumed): Ulster Bank

9:30 am

Mr. Andrew Blair:

GRG's role during the period was to restructure companies and support companies to recover. That was the core role of GRG. The fact that the assets and loans that were managed by GRG - or the vast majority of the portfolio - became part of or ended up in RBS Capital Resolution Ireland and were ultimately sold off does not mean that GRG was the genesis of that portfolio sale. That was a decision made by RBS and Ulster Bank in the context of the overall business.
