Following on from what Mr. Mulvey said, perhaps the reason things got as bad as they did in terms of the lack of accountability whereby one person could unilaterally make decisions within an organisation and rule over everybody else was due to the weakness coming from the political end in terms of direction or guidance. Whatever way one wants to call it, it was wrong for sport, the athletes, transparency and good governance and it possibly added to the situation in which we find ourselves today. The Government certainly did nothing to intervene, take control or implement any sort of change or attempt to even do that. That was wrong. It is part of the reason - it was obviously not the entire reason - we are here today that those tasked with ensuring good governance and accountability did not do their job.
